The season selected changes the result
In 2011/12, Messi and Ronaldo scored 50 and 46 La Liga goals, and 14 and 10 Champions League goals. In 2013/14, the figures were 28 and 31 in La Liga, and 8 and 17 in the Champions League. Choosing only the season that favors one player would hide the other result, which is why both seasons show both players. [3·4·5·6]
Goal totals count goals scored. Playing time and shooting opportunities can differ even within the same competition, so totals cannot directly rank who makes better use of a chance. Penalties and per-match or per-minute figures have not been separately matched in this table.
