What we’re comparing

Similar 256GB full-retail prices hide different software and hardware priorities.

Full retail matched at the same carrier and storage

On September 14, 2026, Verizon listed both the 256GB Pixel 11 Pro XL and 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra at $1,299.99 full retail. Limited discounts and trade-in credits carry different device, plan and timing conditions, so they are not folded into that reference price.

The toolkits diverge more than the screen sizes

Pixel centers a 6.8-inch display, three rear cameras and Google's Android, Gemini and photo tools. Galaxy combines a 6.9-inch display, four rear cameras, an integrated S Pen and DeX. One specification cannot stand in for either workflow.

One-location modem testing is not a national result

An August 21 modem-comparison post drew 76 comments. But a test run in one place, with one method and immediately after setup cannot establish a US-wide winner for reception, battery life or heat.
